Game Summary |
The Patriots came from four runs down to pick
up their 13th league win of 2007, defeating the Quakers 11 - 6.
John Sleeper worked through a difficult 1st inning, pitching a
complete game in picking up his fourth win of the year. Sleeper
allowed three runs (two earned) on one hit and four walks in the
1st inning, which staked Moses Brown to an early 3 - 0 lead.
However, Sleeper settled down quite well. Over his final six
innings, he allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and
four walks while striking out two. Offensively, the highlight of
the day was the top of the 7th inning. With the game knotted at
6 - 6, the Patriots final barrage began. Nick Grande and Brian
Shelburne led off with back-to-back walks, chasing Quaker
starter Jamey Campellone. Graham Tyler came on in relief to face
pinch-hitter Danny Dugan. Dugan laid down a perfect bunt down
the third base line to load the bases. Jimmy Ayars followed with
a two-run single to give the Patriots all the runs that they
would need. However, the Patriots would tack on three additional
runs on three hits and a MB error. The Patriots next league
contest is next Thursday, May 17, at home against East
Providence. |
