Over the past several years, through the hard work and dedication of Portsmouth individuals and Aquidneck Island businesses, the Portsmouth High School baseball facilities have emerged as one of the top facilities on the R.I.I.L. baseball circuit, and through the continuous efforts of the Portsmouth Baseball Diamond Club, continues to provide top notch facilities for our young baseball players to enjoy and excel. In 2006 these facilities were recognized as one of the best in the country.
In recent years, in addition to annual maintenance, there has been significant additions to the PHS facilities. The primary projects include a fixed batting tunnel, soft toss stations, bullpens and a practice infield. The largest project consists of a new combination Press Box / Concession Stand and Storage garage. Complete with sound system and coaches office, the Press Box provides shelter for local radio and media personnel with a perfect view of the field of play. The Concession operation has all of the amenities necessary to provide a diverse and quality menu of food and drink, and the large storage garage provides important space for field equipment, tools and team equipment. New projects on the table include a complete refurbishing of our Scoreboard and wind screen and fence cap for our outfield fences.
The PHS Baseball Program is proud and fortunate to have the Diamond Club to create and maintain what has become one of the top high school baseball facilities in Rhode Island.
