Jay Pacheco enters his 1st year as Head Baseball Coach at Portsmouth High School after serving as Junior Varsity Coach last year. Pacheco brings a wealth of coaching experience to Portsmouth, having served 5 years as JV Coach and Varsity Assistant at Bishop Connolly High School in Fall River, MA. Prior to Bishop Connolly, Coach Pacheco served as an assistant for the Fall River Bulldogs independent baseball team which finished in 3rd place in the East Coast Tournament Baseball World Series in 2002. Coach Pacheco currently is the Head Coach of the Westport Post #145 Bulldogs of Zone 9 American Legion Baseball in Massachusetts. Pacheco’s playing days consisted of an undefeated varsity pitching career (14-0) at Diman Regional, also in Fall River, where he was a league all-star and batted .420 his senior year. He helped lead the Bengals to 3 consecutive league titles and the #1 seed in the Division 2 State Tournament in 2000. Coach Pacheco went on to graduate from CCRI with an Associate’s Degree and the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth where he earned a BA in History. He is currently a Teacher’s Assistant at Westport Middle School, and resides in Fall River with his fiancé Janice and their 1 year old daughter Morgan.

Coach Amorin enters his first season as Varsity Assistant for the Patriots of Portsmouth High School. In 2005, he graduated from Case High School in his hometown of Swansea, MA where he played baseball for 4 years. Immediately after high school Coach Amorin moved on to Rhode Island College where he played four seasons under head coach Jay Grenier. Currently, Coach Amorin is attending RIC pursuing a degree in Operations Management and he will also be the Head Coach of the 16-and-Under ITZ Thunder select travel team this summer.

 

 

Coach Devolve enters his first year as the JV Head Coach. Prior to this position, Coach Devolve was the JV Head Coach at Tiverton High School in 2004 and then moved on to be the Varsity Assistant Coach from 2005-2008 learning the game of baseball from his coach and mentor, Matt McGuire. During this time, Coach Devolve also was an assistant coach for Tom’s Lawn and Garden under the direction of Dave Ulmschneider. . Devolve’s playing days were spent roaming CF for Portsmouth High where in his senior year; he batted .385 and led the Patriot’s with 4 home runs and 25 RBI’s earning All County Honors. Coach Devolve went on to Rhode Island College where he graduated with Bachelor’s degrees in Physical and Health Education. In June of 2010, he will also graduate from the University of Phoenix with a Master’s Degree in Administration. He is currently a physical and health education teacher at Tiverton High School, and resides in Tiverton with his wife Melissa and their expectant twins!

 
Todd Peckham joins the Portsmouth High School Baseball Program as Freshman Coach. Peckham was a three sport high school athlete at Tabor Academy, playing football and basketball along with baseball, before going on to pitch at Tufts University in Medford, MA and earn a B.A. in Economics. He has also played Summer ball locally with the Tiverton Amercian Legion, Bristol County League in Fall River and the Newport Sunset League. Todd has spent the last 18 years working in the Financial Services industry, mostly in Boston. Having grown up in Little Compton, he currently resides in Portsmouth. Coach Peckham is looking forward to developing young talent in the Patriots Baseball Program and continuing the winning tradition.
